Since the start of commercial operation, Fire Island Wind has realized exceptional performance. In spite of the remote setting, historic turbine availability has averaged over 98 percent since the project’s inception. Fire Island Wind has been lauded as one of the top wind energy projects in the country and continues to exceed industry availability standards.

Fire Island Wind expects the project to continue to perform well for many years to come.

Because the project relies on wind, production is not always constant. Fire Island Wind generates most of its power during the winter months when the Anchorage community needs it most. This seasonality also allows Fire Island Wind’s operations team to perform routine maintenance during the summer months when the sun is shining and temperatures are warmer.
